In last 10 years we have seen so many era of mobiles. Basic mobile phones having simply call, receive and sms facility, feature phones with little memory and small VGA cameras to take pictures, simple GPRS internet for the sake of internet,1- 2.5 inch screens. Then came the time of Smartphones, having 1 or 2 GB memory ,good 2 to 3-2 megapixel camera ,having 3 to 3.5 inch screen, with some good multimedia, java based mobile games. 

In the time of Smartphones every next mobile used to have a different user interface, user features. A nokia mobiles user experience in calling buttons, menu opening, feature functions were totally different than sony or Samsung mobile phones. In those days if you have to suddenly use others mobile, whose brand is different than yours, people used to get confused. 

Then came the Android world and under the umbrella of android most of todays mobile are working. Its really similar to one world concept. No bars, no differences…. All are same and equal…speaking the same language of android. from last 4-5 years android mobiles are ruling the mobile world

• Android is a Linux kernal based operating sofatware made by android inc.Google financially supported this company and later bought in year 2005.

• The very first commercially available android mobile was launched in October 2008, as HTC Dream. HTC Dream ran on cupcake 1.5 version of android.

• As android is a open source program , android users can access to its  source code, change the source code and can create new version of operating software. If you get succed in making new versions of android by your self , you can share and distribute to others also.

• Google makes money in android by advertisements revenue on mobiles and tablets.

• The green android logo has been derived from an Atari game, named Gauntlet.

• There are around 1,100,000 mobile apps available in android market currently and every month around 1,40,000 new apps are added in android market.

• Currently more than 1 billion android devices are activated on this earth.

• Most used android apps with more than 110 million installions on mobiles phones and tablets are chrome browser, angry bird, whatsapp, skype, twitter ,facebook, adobe flash player, Temple run,Fruit ninja, Instgram, tiny flashlight etc.

Android is now focusing on wearble devices and Samsung galaxy gear smartwatch is example of this. In the market of mobiles, android mobiles have only one rival and that is windows phone. Nokia led windows mobiles in market ,powerd by Microsoft windows. There were less apps in windows market, and windows series is still developing. 

Lumia series is first windows mobiles which are widely accepted and praised for their performance, sicne nokia launched windows phone. As Microsoft now owns nokia mobiles ,we can assure that in future we would see some new updates in windows phone too. Google understands this too and has also launched their nexus series of mobiles in market too.

All in all, competietion has been always good for consumers, It gives them choices and fulfill their individual needs too, but for now Android is the King and is enjoying its reign heartily.
